What a fabulous start to the new year!

The Sisters Living Works(SLW) team is excited to share that 2024 has brought us new opportunities to reach out to more people.

From interacting with intimate groups to impacting larger crowds  and pulling off our Run and Walk, this year is proving to be a fulfilling journey for all who are involved. We are excited to share our progress with you so far.

INTO THE LIGHT: 5K RUN and WALK

On 24th February, the SLW team organized INTO THE LIGHT – 5K Run & Walk in Sanjay Gandhi National Park(SGNP), Borivali. It was dedicated to raising awareness on suicide prevention and mental health. This event was supported by SGNP, Skechers Group and Mumbai March. Over 300 individuals and families participated in the event and showed their support for the cause. The event was aimed to bring people together, welcoming participants of all paces in a spirit of inclusivity. Participants ranged from 70-year-old grandparents to 10-year-old children, each of whom brought with them extraordinary motivation and enthusiasm.

The day began with an energetic warm-up session for all the participants, conducted by Coach Melwyn from Skechers. The 5K flag off took place before the break of dawn.  Participants on route supported one another while racing, cheering each other on. As participants crossed the finish line,  each participant gleamed with pride.

The highlight of the event was a talk on ‘Pillars of healthy living’ by Ms. Nidhi Sharma, Psychologist, a talk on ‘Suicide In India’ by Ms. Meenakshi Nagwekar, Director of SLW and Poems with Songs on ‘Mental health’ recited by Ms. Sharvari Prabhu, Psychologist and Music Composer.

Some reflections and feedbacks from our participants and guests:

“Thank you so much. I’m really feeling so good and blessed. I would love to be part of more such upcoming events from SLW”
“It was a pleasure performing today. Hats off to all the efforts by team SLW. Great initiative!”
“Everything went really great, this was my little daughter’s first run and walk event and she had loads of fun and is quite happy”

Workshops for the Community

We organized several awareness workshops with different communities and age groups. These workshops took place in private spaces where we got a chance to sensitize smaller groups of people. We also held workshops on topics like stress management, mental health and well being, bridging the gap between parents and children, meditation and mindfulness.

Expanding Our Support Groups to Newer Spaces!

While we continue to hold our support group thrice a month online, we have also expanded our support to different places like a local Cafe in Pune and a Rehabilitation centre in Mumbai. Through these initiatives, we strive to ensure accessibility and inclusivity in our support efforts, reaching individuals in diverse settings and catering to their unique needs.

We have been able to continue our efforts towards reducing suicides in India because of your support and generosity!
