Newsletter (April-June 2024)

We are delighted to share the highlights from our recent activities and initiatives, aimed at fostering resilience, providing support, and spreading awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.

Our Visit to Aadhartirth Ashram for Orphans Affected by Suicide

One of our most special collaborations has been with Aadhartirth Ashram, an orphanage in Nashik dedicated to children who have lost their parents to suicide. Our primary goal was to create a safe space where these children could express themselves freely and participate in fun and engaging activities.

The event was divided into several segments that addressed emotions and highlighted the resilience of survivors. We started with a storytelling session where facilitator narrated and acted out a simple, relatable story about emotions. The room was filled with smiles, nods, and laughter from the children, making it a truly heartwarming experience.

This was followed by an interactive presentation on ‘Understanding Emotions’, where participants were shown different facial expressions and asked to identify them. The session concluded with an art activity where children were given art supplies to express their feelings through drawings. Their creativity was astounding! We also organized dance activities and fun games involving balloons, which added an extra layer of joy to the event.

Suicide Awareness and Prevention Training for School Counselors and Educators

Our suicide prevention program for educators, trainers, special educators, counselors, and other professionals working with children is very dear to our hearts. These individuals are often the first to encounter children struggling with their mental health. Therefore, it is crucial that they are equipped to identify, communicate with, and support children at risk.

The April 2024 training batch was a huge success, with enthusiastic and interactive participants who enriched the experience with their stories. This training not only provided them with valuable skills but also built a supportive network of professionals dedicated to safeguarding children’s mental health.
